Keys, Anyone?

An explanation of terms and abbreviations used in this issue.

Acronyms help us avoid stumbling over unwieldy names. Here are a few from this issue:

TEC
The Episcopal Church
ECUSA
Episcopal Church in the U.S.A.
BCP
Book of Common Prayer
GAFCON

And then there is the Lambeth Quadrilateral (1888), which formulates four articles to standardize Anglican identity around the world:

  • the Creeds (Apostles' and Nicene)
  • the only sacraments ordained by Christ himself (Baptism, the Lord's Supper)
  • and the Historic Episcopate.
